like / enjoy + -ing; want + to
Animasyonlu anlatım
Çizgi film öğretmen like / enjoy + -ing; want + to bu dersin kendi örnek cümleleriyle sahne sahne anlatır: tahtada formül, renk kodlu cümle parçaları, yanlış → doğru karşılaştırmaları. Anlatım İngilizcedir (İngiliz aksanı). İlk açılışta senaryo hazırlanır (~1 dk), sonra anında açılır.
Bazı fiillerden sonra ikinci bir fiil gelir: I love swimming. / I want to swim.
A Sevdiğimiz şeyler: like / love / enjoy / hate + -ing
Elif loves the sea. Every summer she goes to Bodrum. She loves swimming. She enjoys lying on the beach, too. (Elif denizi çok sever. Her yaz Bodrum'a gider. Yüzmeyi çok sever. Kumsalda uzanmaktan da keyif alır.)
Bir şeyi sevip sevmediğimizi söylerken ikinci fiil -ing alır:

| love | I love dancing. | Dans etmeyi çok severim. |

→ I like to cook da duyabilirsiniz, ama like / love / hate ile -ing kullanmak her zaman güvenlidir.

| Sonu -e ise: -e düşer | make → making, dance → dancing, drive → driving |
| Kısa fiil, sonu sesli + sessiz: son harf ikilenir | swim → swimming, run → running, sit → sitting, shop → shopping |
| Sonu -ie ise: → -ying | lie → lying |
→ swiming ✗ → swimming ✓

Bir isteği, ihtiyacı ya da planı söylerken ikinci fiil to + fiil olur. Fiil yalın kalır: to move, to find.

D I like doing ↔ I'd like to do

İkisi birbirine çok benziyor ama anlamları farklı:
| Anlam | Örnek | |
|---|---|---|
| like + -ing | genel olarak severim (hep) | I like going to the cinema. → Sinemaya gitmeyi severim. |
| would like + to | şimdi / belirli bir zaman isterim | I'd like to go to the cinema tonight. → Bu akşam sinemaya gitmek isterim. |
Soru olarak: → Do you like dancing? = Dans etmeyi sever misin? (genel soru) → Would you like to dance? = Dans etmek ister misin? (şimdi, bir davet)
Davete kibar cevap: Yes, I'd love to. / Sorry, I can't.

- Would you like to come to my birthday party on Saturday?Cumartesi doğum günü partime gelmek ister misin?davet

Kısa bir formül: Duygu → -ing, hedef → to. Sevdiğin şey zaten hayatının içinde, devam ediyor: I love swimming. İstediğin şey ise ileride, ona doğru gidiyorsun; to de bir yöne doğru gitmeyi anlatır: I want to swim. Takıldığında kendine sor: Bu bir duygu mu, bir hedef mi?
