myself / yourself; each other
Dönüşlü zamirler; each other
Animasyonlu anlatım
Çizgi film öğretmen myself / yourself; each other bu dersin kendi örnek cümleleriyle sahne sahne anlatır: tahtada formül, renk kodlu cümle parçaları, yanlış → doğru karşılaştırmaları. Anlatım İngilizcedir (İngiliz aksanı). İlk açılışta senaryo hazırlanır (~1 dk), sonra anında açılır.
Dönüşlü zamirler (myself, yourself, himself…) Türkçedeki kendim, kendin, kendisi… demektir. Bir kişi bir işi kendine yaptığında kullanırız: I cut myself. = Kendimi kestim. each other ise birbirini / birbirine demektir. İki ya da daha çok kişi aynı şeyi karşılıklı yapar: They love each other. = Birbirlerini seviyorlar.
A myself, yourself, himself… (biçim)
Durum: Elif is in the kitchen. She is cooking. Oh no! She burnt herself. (Elif mutfakta yemek yapıyor. Eyvah! Elini yaktı.)
Elif yaktı → yanan da Elif. Yapan ve etkilenen aynı kişi → herself.
Tekil zamirler -self, çoğul zamirler -selves ile biter:
| Özne | Dönüşlü zamir | Türkçe |
|---|---|---|
| I | myself | kendim(i) |
| you (tek kişi) | yourself | kendin(i) |
| he | himself | kendisi(ni) – erkek |
| she | herself | kendisi(ni) – kadın |
| it | itself | kendisi(ni) – şey, hayvan |
| we | ourselves | kendimiz(i) |
| you (çok kişi) | yourselves | kendiniz(i) |
| they | themselves | kendileri(ni) |
→ you iki türlü: tek kişiye yourself, birden çok kişiye yourselves. → himself (hisself değil), themselves (theirselves değil). → Türkçede kendimi fiilden önce gelir; İngilizcede fiilden sonra: I cut myself.
- I cut myself with the bread knife.Ekmek bıçağıyla elimi kestim.

Kural: → Özne ve nesne farklı kişi → me, you, him, her, us, them (e-37) → Özne ve nesne aynı kişi → myself, yourself, himself…
| Farklı kişi | Aynı kişi |
|---|---|

| help yourself (to …) | buyurun, kendiniz alın |
| by myself / by yourself … | tek başına, yalnız, kimsenin yardımı olmadan |

D Türkçede 'kendini' var, İngilizcede yok!
Durum: Every morning Mert gets up, washes, shaves and gets dressed. Then he relaxes with a glass of tea. (Mert her sabah kalkar, yıkanır, tıraş olur, giyinir. Sonra bir bardak çayla rahatlar.)
Türkçede yıkanmak, giyinmek, rahatlamak fiillerinde 'kendini' anlamı gizli. İngilizcede bu fiillerle genelde -self kullanmayız.
| Türkçe | İngilizce |
|---|---|
| yıkanmak | wash / have a shower |
| tıraş olmak | shave |
| giyinmek | get dressed |
| rahatlamak | relax ( relax myself ✗ ) |
| kendimi yorgun hissediyorum | I feel tired ( feel myself ✗ ) |
| buluşmak | meet ( meet ourselves ✗ ) |
- I feel tired today.Bugün kendimi yorgun hissediyorum.I feel myself tired ✗

E each other (birbirini, birbirine)
Durum: Ayşe calls Elif. Elif calls Ayşe. → Ayşe and Elif call each other every day. (Ayşe ve Elif her gün birbirini arıyor.)
each other = karşılıklı: A → B, B → A (A ↔ B) -selves = herkes kendine: A → A, B → B
| themselves | each other |
|---|---|
| Ayşe and Elif looked at themselves in the mirror. (Her biri kendine baktı.) | Ayşe and Elif looked at each other. (Ayşe Elif'e, Elif Ayşe'ye baktı.) |
→ each other hiç değişmez: each others ✗ → Türkçedeki birbirimizi, birbirinizi, birbirlerini → hepsi each other.

- We don't see each other very often.Birbirimizi pek sık görmüyoruz.

- They looked at each other and laughed.Birbirlerine baktılar ve güldüler.
- Do you and your brother help each other?Sen ve kardeşin birbirinize yardım eder misiniz?
Kısa kural: Türkçede 'kendi' diyorsan → -self, 'birbiri' diyorsan → each other. Ama Türkçe fiil kendi kendine -n / -l ile bitiyorsa (yıkandım, giyindim, rahatladım) İngilizcede genelde -self yok: I washed, I got dressed, I relaxed.
