Çizgi film öğretmen Present simple: negatives and questions bu dersin kendi örnek cümleleriyle sahne sahne anlatır: tahtada formül, renk kodlu cümle parçaları, yanlış → doğru karşılaştırmaları. Anlatım İngilizcedir (İngiliz aksanı). İlk açılışta senaryo hazırlanır (~1 dk), sonra anında açılır.

Geniş zamanda (present simple) olumsuz cümle ve soru yapmak için yardımcı fiil do / does kullanırız: I don't work. / Does she work? Türkçede fiile ek getiririz (çalışmam, çalışır mı?). İngilizcede ise fiilin önüne don't / doesn't koyarız ya da cümlenin başına Do / Does getiririz. Asıl fiil hep yalın kalır (work, drink, live…).

A Olumsuz: I don't … / she doesn't …

Ayşe çay içer. Ama kahve içmez.

Ayşe drinks tea. She doesn't drink coffee.

Olumsuz cümle için fiilin önüne don't (= do not) ya da doesn't (= does not) koyarız.

→ Dikkat: he/she/it için gelen -s, doesn't içine geçer. Fiil yalın kalır.

  • She works. → She doesn't work. (doesn't works değil)

Türkçede olumsuzluk fiilin sonundadır (içmez). İngilizcede fiilin önündedir (doesn't drink).

  • I don't eat meat.Et yemem.
  • We don't live in Istanbul. We live in Izmir.İstanbul'da yaşamıyoruz. İzmir'de yaşıyoruz.
  • My brother doesn't like football.Erkek kardeşim futbolu sevmez.likes → doesn't like
  • Zeynep doesn't drive. She takes the metro.Zeynep araba kullanmaz. Metroya biner.
  • The shop doesn't open on Sundays.Dükkân pazar günleri açmaz.it → doesn't
  • Elif doesn't have a car.Elif'in arabası yok.has → doesn't have

B Sorular: Do you …? / Does she …?

Tom İngiliz ama İstanbul'da yaşıyor. Elif ona soruyor:

'Do you speak Turkish?'

Sonra Tom'un kız arkadaşı Sarah'yı soruyor:

'Does Sarah speak Turkish?'

Soru için Do ya da Does cümlenin en başına gelir.

Karşılaştır:

  • She works here. → Does she work here?
  • They work here. → Do they work here?

Türkçede soru eki mı/mi fiilden sonra gelir (çalışır mı?). İngilizcede Do/Does cümlenin başına gelir.

  • Do your parents live near you?Annenle baban sana yakın mı oturuyor?
  • Does the bus stop here?Otobüs burada durur mu?

C Kısa cevaplar: Yes, I do. / No, she doesn't.

Mert, Ayşe'ye soruyor: 'Do you drink coffee?' Ayşe: 'No, I don't.'

Kısa cevapta asıl fiili tekrar etmeyiz. Sadece do / does / don't / doesn't kullanırız.

→ 'Yes, I like.' denmez. Doğrusu: Yes, I do.

Türkçede 'Evet, içerim.' deriz; fiili tekrarlarız. İngilizcede fiilin yerine do/does gelir.

  • Do you work on Saturdays? — No, I don't.Cumartesi çalışır mısın? — Hayır, çalışmam.
  • Does Mert support Galatasaray? — Yes, he does.Mert Galatasaray'ı mı tutuyor? — Evet.
  • Do your children like school? — Yes, they do.Çocukların okulu seviyor mu? — Evet, seviyorlar.
  • Does it rain a lot in Bodrum? — No, it doesn't.Bodrum'da çok yağmur yağar mı? — Hayır, yağmaz.
  • Do you and Can live together? — Yes, we do.Sen ve Can birlikte mi yaşıyorsunuz? — Evet.

D Soru kelimeleri: Where do you …? What does he …?

Elif yeni iş arkadaşı Tom ile tanışıyor:

'Where do you live?' — 'In Kadıköy.' 'What do you do?' — 'I'm an English teacher.'

Soru kelimesi (where, what, when…) en başa gelir, sonra do/does, sonra kişi, sonra fiil.

→ What do you do? = Ne iş yapıyorsun? (İkinci do asıl fiildir: 'yapmak'.)

Türkçede soru kelimesi genelde fiile yakındır (Nerede oturuyorsun?). İngilizcede en baştadır.

  • Where do you work?Nerede çalışıyorsun?
  • What time does your train leave?Trenin saat kaçta kalkıyor?
  • How do you go to work? — By ferry.İşe nasıl gidiyorsun? — Vapurla.
  • What does your father do? — He's a doctor.Baban ne iş yapıyor? — Doktor.
  • How often do you visit your grandmother?Büyükanneni ne sıklıkla ziyaret edersin?

'Bir cümlede tek -s!' kuralını hatırla: -s ya fiile gelir ya da does / doesn't'a — ikisine birden asla. She works ✓ / She doesn't work ✓ / Does she work? ✓ — ama doesn't works ✗, Does she works? ✗

Sık yapılan hatalar

She doesn't works in a bank.She doesn't work in a bank.doesn't'tan sonra fiil yalın kalır. -s zaten doesn't içinde var.
